Mount Satopanth Expedition 

Mount Satopanth, situated in Garwhal Himalaya, is technically moderate with a complex glacier approach, followed by easy angled snow slopes interspersed with knife edge ridges. Mount Satopanth is the second highest summit in the Gangotri Group located in the remote Garwhal Himalaya Range separating the Gangotri and Chaturangi Glaciers.

This is an incredibly beautiful point to view peaks of Thalay Sagar, Shivling and the terrifying granite pillars of Bhagirathi III.  Gaumukh, the mouth of the holy Ganges River, known as the most holy place in all of India, is very close to Gangotri make this expedition more than just a climb, it is a cultural experience unmatched anywhere in the world.

Day 01 :  Drive Haridwar to Uttarkashi. Overnight stay Guest House.

Day 02 :  Drive to Gangotri (3046m). Overnight tourist bungalow/Camp.

 

Day 03 :  Trek Gangotri to Bhojbasa (3790m). Camp overnight.

 

Day 04 : Trek Bhojbasa to Nandanban (4340m). Camp overnight.

 

Day 05 : Trek Nandanban to Vasuki Tal base camp (4850m). Camp overnight.

 

Day 06 : Base camp establishment/acclimatization. Camp overnight.

 

Mount Satopanth Sort loads / acclimatization. Our LAP (low altitude porters) will come back from here and only cook+ kitchen helpers will stay. The HAP (high altitude porters) will stay longer according to the plan made with individual expedition leaders. Camp overnight.

 

Day 08 & 09 : Load carries/ acclimatization. Camp overnight.

 

Day 10 : Camp 1 occupied (5400m). Camp overnight.

 

Day 11 & 12 :  Load carries/ acclimatization. Liaison work. Camp overnight.

 

Day 13 : Camp 2 established (6000m). Camp overnight.

 

Day 14 & 15 :  Fix ridge & Load ferries/ Liaison work. Camp overnight.

 

Day 16 : Camp 3 occupied (6500m) It’s a move through the broad ridge which becomes narrow for about 700M. 40-55 degree ice traverses with mind boggling exposure. Camp 3 lies at 6500M on the end of this ridge at the bottom of the summit snow field up to 7075M. About 5 hours one way. Camp overnight.

 

Day 17 – 18 : Summit day.

 

Day 19/20/21 : Reserve days for summit.

 

Day 22 : trek to back base from camp 3.

 

Day 23 : Trek back to Gangotri. Camp overnight.

 

Day 24 : Drive Gangotri to Haridwar.
