Char Dham Yatra,  According to Hindu Mythology, It is believed that Hindu philosopher and reformer Sri Adi Shankaracharya utilized the word Char Dham. It denotes four Holy destinations or abodes of God inside the four directions in India.  Puri in the East, Dwarka in the West, Badrinath in the North, and Rameshwaram in the South. But, when it comes to the journeys /explorations, the holy expedition of  Char Dham Yatra is also most famous in people.

According to Hinduism the Char Dham Yatra, is a pilgrim’s journey of the five responsibility or moral imperative of every Hindu, along with worship, dharma, sanskar, and also religious festivals. A pilgrimage is a lifetime experience, a direct connection between the seeker and dedicated to a deity or to some religious purpose. Thousand Hindu religion people visit this auspicious Char Dhams- Char Dham Yatra every year.

It is commonly believed that undertaking a peregrination heart Purity and washes all sins whatever they have done in your life. Char Dham Yatra is an exercise in humility and faith.  when the enthusiast peregrinates to an often difficult place, leaving his predicament at the feet of the god or goddess, remember god and forgetting all thing to have darshan of Deities abiding.

There are many good reasons to leave home for a few days. Char Dham yatra consists of four holy shrines: Yamnotri, Gangotri, and then taking holy water from these places, perform Jal Abhishek on shivling in Kedarnath dham. And then go to Badrinath dham and see a form of Lord Vishnu. It is the most popular Char dham yatra in Uttarakhand.

Yamunotri Dham

The Yamunotri Dham is the first Dham of Chardham Yatra. It is located on the western side of Garhwal Himalayas and located at the 3,293 meters above sea level. River Yamuna originates in Yamunotri and it is one of the most beautiful pilgrimage sites of the Chota Chardham in Uttarakhand. According to Hindu mythology, a bath in the Yamuna not only cleanse all sins but it paves the way to salvation.

Gangotri Dham

The Gangotri Dham is the second Dham of Char Dham yatra. It is one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Chota char dham yatra in Uttarakhand. it is located at a height of 3,100 m. It is the origin of the Goddess Ganga river. The river Bhagirathi at the source and acquires the name Ganga at Devprayag where it meets the River Alaknanda. The origin of the holy river is at Gaumukh. Gangotri Gaumukh Glacier is at the height of 3,892 meters and a 19 km trek from Gangotri. The gates of Yamunotri and Gangotri dham open on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya and close on Deepawali every year.

Kedarnath Dham

It is one of the most sacred pilgrimages of Lord Shiva. Kedarnath dham is the third dham of Char dham yatra. It is situated in the Rudraprayag district of the Gharwal region in Uttarakhand at an altitude of 3586 meters above sea level. Kedarnath dham is in the lap of snowy mountain peaks near the head of River Mandakini. The Shiva Temple is a beautiful place to do meditation. Kedarnath yatra is one of the most popular Hindu shrines and also the most important Shiva temple among the Panchkedars. The door of the Kedarnath Dham is decided to open on the Hindu festival of Mahashivratri every year. Kedarnath Yatra is one of the most important Chardham.

Badrinath Dham

It is the most important dham of all the Char dham yatra. Badrinath is a holy temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and located in Chamoli district in Uttarakhand. It is an altitude of 10,827 feet above sea level on the banks of River Alaknanda. The Badrinath village lies between Nar, Narayan mountain ranges.

It is one of the must-visit places in Uttarakhand. Wake up early in the morning, take a bath in Tapt Kund and then attend the temple aarti. Devotees can also visit nearby places like Mana village ( last Indian village), Vasudhara falls and other places like Valley of Flowers Trek and Auli. One of the most popular char dham yatra of Uttarakhand. Char Dham Yatra is an exercise in humility and faith.

 

Day 1: Char Dham Yatra from Haridwar/ Rishikesh to Barkot  6 hours.

Chardham yatra from Haridwar

Arrive Rishikesh or Haridwar day before departure or reach early morning by train or any other medium of transport. Our vehicle will be ready, check your belongings things properly & Depart to Barkot.

During the journey to 4 dham yatra, you will pass some well-known towns of Uttarakhand like Rishikesh, Narendra Nagar, Chamba, Tehri, Dharasu & Barkot. Lunch will be on the way. Overnight stay in Hotel or Guesthouse in Barkot.

 

Day 2: Char Dham Yatra- Barkot to Yamnotri (3323 m)– Uttarakashi – 120 km Motorable – 6 km trek

Jai Ma Yamuna, Early morning, wake up. Depart to Jankichatti via Syanchatti, 41 km motorable up to Jankichatti & 6 km trek to Yamunotri. After arriving Yamunotri visit the Holy temple of Yamuna Mata situated on the bank of Yamuna river.

Visit nearby places of Yamnotri like Surya kund, Divya shilla & Jamunabai kund. After Lunch return to Barkot, 6 km trek to Jankichatti & 41 km drive to Barkot. Night stay in barkot.

 

Day 3 : Uttarakashi to Gangotri (3140m)– Uttarakashi (1158 m)– 200 km – 8 hours

Jai ma Ganga, Gangotri, Temple of Maa Ganga, in the bank of Ganga river & Gaumukh glacier, source of the Ganga river. The morning after breakfast drive to Gangotri Temple via Harsil, Bhaironghati. Explore Himalayan view & after lunch return to Uttarakashi for night halt.

 

Day 4: Char Dham Yatra- Uttarakashi to Guptkashi (1479m) – 197 km – 6 hours.

Morning tea & breakfast in Uttarkashi & we drive to Guptakshi, it’s a long drive via Ghansali, Agastmuni & many other villages? of three Districts Uttarkashi, Tehri & Rudraprayag. Guptakashi situated in Rudraprayag district, there is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva (Vishwanath).

Ukhimath can be seen from here, which is on the way to the highest temple of Lord shiva, “Tungnath”. Check-in hotel & visit Confluence of Alaknanda & Mandakini River in Rudraprayag. Night stay in Guptkashi.

Day 5: Guptkashi to Kedarnath (3583 m) – 30 km motorable – 14 km trek

We start early because of 14 km trek to kedarnath, first 30 km are motorable up to Gaurikund. Breakfast in Gaurikund. There are two water sources in Gaurikund, Hot & Cold, Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva & also Gauri (Goddess Parvati). According to a myth Gauri meditated here for a long time & later got married to Lord Shiva in Trijuginarayan. Similarly, one of the famous 4 dham yatra.

Char dham Yatra trek route passes through thick forest, water streams & you can also see the magnificent view of Mountains. After crossing Rambara & Garudchatti, we will reach Kedarnath shrine. Night halt in foothills of the Himalaya today. Char Dham Yatra is an exercise in humility and faith.

Day 6: Char Dham Yatra- Kedarnath to Rudraprayag (610 m) – 73 km motorable – 14 km trek descent.

Kedarnath located in the foothills of Himalayas in Rudraprayag district, in Uttarakhand. The banks of Mandakini river which sources from Chorbaria Glacier. Kedarkhand valley was acclimatized by flood in 2013 but the main Temple is safe now. Uttarakhand Government restored everything properly.

Early Morning wake up & visit Kedarnath temple, there is a statue of Pandava’s & Dropadi, Nandi & Veerbhadra. Visit the surroundings of Kedarnath temple, also explore the view of kedarnath peaks. After breakfast, trek down to Gaurikund. From Gaurikund, we depart to Rudraprayag and stay for the night.

Day 7: Char Dham Yatra: Rudraprayag to Badrinath (1890m) – 157 km – 5 hours

Jai Badri Vishal, Badrinath Dham is the last Dham of Char Dham Yatra. After breakfast, we will start drive to Badrinath. It passes through some places like Gocher, Nandprayag, Chamoli, Garurganga, Joshimath, Vishnuprayag, Govindghat and also Pandukeshver. Char Dham Yatra is an exercise in humility and faith.

You’ll see beautiful villages, waterfalls, water streams, many river confluences. And the Greenery which will boost your morale for traveling. Check-in hotel or Guesthouse. Then take a dip in hot water kund, visit the temple and explore the surroundings. Night stay in Badrinath.

Day 8 : Badrinath & mana – Joshimath (1890 m) -4.4 km Mana & 45 km

Joshimath – 5 to 6 hours. Wake up & depart to Mana Village. Explore Mana Village & nearby places like Bheem Pul, Vasudhara Falls, Sarswati river & Neelkanth peak. Mana is the last village near China & Tibet border. Explore Mana & Drive back to Joshimath. And visit Yogdhyan Badri ancient temple in Pandukesher(1829 m) 24 km from Joshimath.

After some distance, we can see the Confluence of Alaknanda & Dhauliganga river in Vishnuprayag. In the evening, check-in the hotel at Joshimath & visit Narsingh devata Temple. Night stay in Joshimath.

 

Day 9: Char Dham Yatra- Joshimath to Rishikesh/Haridwar (340m) – 254 km – 6 to 7 hours

Today is the last day of the journey, after breakfast, we depart to Rishikesh. On the way, we also visit Karnaprayag and Lord Karna Temple. And also, visit Devprayag for Alaknanda & Bhagirathi river which formed Ganga here.  Your Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand ends here.
