Day 1- Ronti saddle trek – Kathgodam to Lohajung.
Altitude: 7,662 feet
Distance: 210 km
Time Taken: 10 hours
Drive from Kathgodam railway station to Lohajung. Lohajung is the base camp of Roopkund Ronti Saddle trek. The route is extremely curvy and goes through the vegetation of coniferous forest. Overnight stay in guest house.
Day 2- Loharjung to Didna
Altitude: 8045 feet
Distance: 6 km
Time Taken: 5-6 hours
Drive from Lohajung base camp to wan village which is situated at a height of 2400 meters. Wan is a small hamlet located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Trekking route for Roopkund trek and Ronti Saddle trek starts from Wan village along the Neel Ganga river. After 4 km walk through the oak and rhododendron forest you get the first view of the Kulling village which is a beautiful sight to watch.
Kulling is a small hamlet with whitewashed houses and people here are mainly dependent on the agriculture. The trek from Kulling to Didna is pretty steep. Didna and Kulling village are very close to each other. overnight stay in guest house.
Day 3- Didna to Bedini Bugyal or Ali Bugyal.

Trek from Didna campsite is through the thick forest of oak and bamboo up to Ali Bugyal. Ali bugyal lies at an elevation of 13,000 feet and offers the stunning views of Mt. Trishul, Neelkanth, Chaukhamba, Mactoli, Bandarpoonch and Gangotri range. The bridge over the Neel Ganga river is a beautiful place to relax and soak in the vibes of nature during the Ronti Saddle trek.
Bedni Bugyal brings us to a huge sheet of green meadow adorned with rhododendron flowers. The reflection of Nanda Ghunti and Mt. Trishul in the Bedni Kund is outstanding which makes it one of the very beautiful campsites throughout the Uttarakhand Himalayas. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
Day 4- Bedni to Bhagwabasa. Ronti Saddle trek

Time Taken: 7-8 hours
Bedni Bugyal campsite is blessed with the immense beauty of ‘kund’ and surrounding mountains. The route towards Bhagwabasa is visible from bedni Bugyal. Trek to Patharnachauni is gradual ascend. Irrespective of your experience at trekking in Himalaya, Ronti Saddle trekking trail tests your limits, stamina and physical fitness while offering some of the mesmerizing views of the Himalayan peaks.
There is a vertical zig-zag climb till Kalu Vinayak temple which is located at an altitude of 14,550 feet. The word ‘Kalu Vinayak’ is derived from two words ‘kalu’ denotes black and ‘vinayak’ refers to Ganesha means the Black Ganesha. Kalu Vinayak temple has a black idol of Lord Ganesha inside a small cave. Overnight stay in the camp.
Day 5: Bhagwabasa to Roopkund summit to Sheela samundar
Distance: 7-8 km
Time Taken: 7-8 hours
The trek starts from Bhagwabasa campsite to Roopkund summit takes around 3 hours. Roopkund lake is a high altitude mysterious lake surrounded by the majestic snowy peaks of Himalayas. After Roopkund lake we cross the Junargali Pass from where trekkers see the beautiful route of Ronti Saddle trek from start to end.
Standing at 5150 meters, the panoramic view of the entire mountain ranges along with the open valley is amazing. Around 2 hours of continuous descend from Junargali Pass brings us to our Sheela Samundra campsite. Explore the vicinity or just lie in the lap of Himalaya. Overnight stay in the camps.
Day 6: Sheela Samudra to Dodang base camp.
Distance: 5 km
Time Taken: 3 hours
Start our trek amidst the Himalayan mountains towards Dodang base camp. The word ‘Sheela Samundra’ is derived from two words ‘sheela’ denotes rocks and ‘Samundra’ refers to the sea means the Sea of Rocks. The trail continues along the Nandakini river gradually upwards. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 7: Dodang Base Camp to Ronti Saddle to Dodang Base Camp.
Altitude: 17,388 feet
Distance: 8 km
Time Taken: 6-7 hours
Today is the special day of the Ronti Saddle Trek. After breakfast, we start our Ronti saddle trek towards Ronti Saddle from the beautiful Dodang Basecamp. The trail climbs up and is difficult to ascend till Ronti Saddle. Walk over the moraine path for some 2 km, the ridge slowly turns to the right to bring you to Homkund.
It is one of the best places that brings joy to the eyes. A full open view where you can breathe in the Uttarakhand Himalayas without any obstacles in your vision. From valleys to those might mountains and those glacier lakes everything seems clear from here.
From Homkund, the trail through the snowfield takes 2 hrs steep climb. Ronti Saddle top will mesmerise you with some of the unseen views of nature. You will fell the beauty of the nature slipping into your soul and the tears of happiness through your eyes will slide through as you stand tall on the ronti top. One feels blessed to be able to see those breathtaking view of Nandaghunti, Trishul and Ronti peaks. Enjoy the sight and start to descend the same route till reach Do dang base camp from Ronti saddle. Camp here for the night.
Day 8: Ronti saddle trek – Dodang Base camp to Lata Kopri
Altitude: 10,000 feet
Distance: 14 km
Time Taken: 7-8 hours
Wake up to a majestic sunrise in the golden hours of Himalayas and head back down to Lata Kopri. The trail passes through the lush green forest of the Nanda Devi Biosphere. Lata Kopri is a beautiful campsite of Roopkund Ronti saddle trek. Once you have reached Lata Kopri campsite spend the night in the tents.
Day 9: Ronti saddle trek – Lata Kopri to Sotol.
Altitude: 6000 feet
Distance: 12 km
Time Taken: 5-6 hours
Descend down to Sotol through the thick forest. Sotol is a beautiful campsite located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Congratulations on completing a challenging trek. Overnight stay in the guest house then head back on foot the next morning.

WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY NEED TO DO BEFORE GOING TO TREK?
Prepare your body-
- Running, Walk, Running
Running & Walking is the easiest and best for good health and trekking. Since the daunting of trekking & climbing requires long hours of public walk, ride, or drive, you must practice running or walking ablest one hour daily. Long walks during trekking make you tired those times and walk increase your fitness levels.
The benefits of running-
- Loosing of extra pounds weight
- Lower risk of heart problem
- Improve and balance blood circulation
- Increase stamina
- Walking with solder-load or weighted bag
Since trekking requires long time walks with a bag 5 kilos on your solder, a sudden weight on your shoulders. Put 5-6 kilos bag and try to walk 2-3 minutes and repeat this 10 times in 24 hours. If you have weight vest the try to run if you have not weighted vest the fill your bag with some books and wasted newspaper to weight.
- Climb stairs Up & Down
A mandatory aspect of trekking is ascending and descending trek. Ascend and descend walking is the most difficult tasks one faces during such trekking. For fitness practice, you regularly climb stairs. Regular climbing stair provides stronger muscles and better mental reflexes. Every day 5-10 minutes of stair climbing or 45 min walk or 20 min running reduces the risk of heart problem and increasing your stamina.
- Leg Exercises
Sports like football and hockey which involve running can be the best exercise. Cycling is also best exercise to boost up your muscles. You also follow leg exercises.
