There are many ashrams near the temple which provide accommodation to people who are going to worship. The river called Bhagirathi at the source and change name (the Ganga) from Devprayag after meets the Alaknanda. The origin of the holy Bhagirathi is at Gaumukh- Gangotri Glacier, which is an approximate 20 km trek from Gangotri.
